blog #3

The principle that I am most drawn to is Sartre’s existentialism. My personal beliefs are somewhat similar to those of existentialism. Existentialism basically says there is no God and you are completely responsible for yourself and your actions. It also says that you have to accept that you are completely responsible for everything you do you can’t blame others or God, because it says there is no God. I believe most of that but it conflicts with my beliefs because it says that there is no God and I believe there is. I could live according to both but I do believe there is a God. For the most part I already follow most of the beliefs of existentialism so it wouldn’t be too much of a change if I followed both existentialism and my personal beliefs. I do believe that even if there is a God you still shouldn’t use him/her as an excuse when you do something you regret. People should think more about their actions and take more responsibility for what they do. You should also not only do good things because your religion says you should or for God or whatever your reason may be, you should only do something because you want to do. You need to forget about the idea of there being someone that you need to impress or there being someone that you can blame.
