Blog #5 Abortion

The issue didn't effect my principles i'm still pro choice. I don't think women should get an abortion as a form of birth control, i think abortion needs to be taken very seriously and only be done if you really need it. But i still think women need to make that choice for themselves and no one should be able to tell them they can't get an abortion. Women shouldn't be forced to carry a baby that they don't want. By doing that it could cause more problems. If the mother is addicted to drugs and has the baby, it could be born with serious birth defects and possibly die shortly after anyway, or they could be born into abusive or troubled families and they could suffer the rest of their lives. Sometimes people don't understand why someone would abort their child because they aren't in that woman's situation. They may have an abortion to save the child from a dangerous life, they think they are doing whats best and they probably are. Unless you are in the position of someone who needs to make that decision you shouldn't judge them or tell them what to do. Noonans position is least consistent with my own. He says that abortion should just not be allowed at all, which i find ridiculous. He is a guy so he doesn't have the slightest idea as to what it would be like to be put in that position, so he shouldn't tell a woman what the moral thing to do is.

blog #4 Human Cloning

This issue didn't really effect my principles i don't really see anything wrong with letting people clone others. A lot of people might say that its not right because God isn't making the person but God made us and we're cloning people so technically God did make them. I also don't really see how it's ethically or morally wrong. As long as no one is getting hurt i don't see the problem with it. It also has a lot of benefits; it can help cure people of serious illnesses such as cancer or other terminal illnesses. Also people could make sure their child isn't born with any problems or diseases so all babies would be healthy. I think we need to at least try cloning and stem cell research and if it isn't beneficial or it has negative effects then we can stop, but we'll never know if we don't at least try it. Tooley's position is most consistent with my own. He talks about the benefits of cloning and he thinks it should be okay to do it. The good outweighs the bad in his opinion and i believe that's true.
